The citizens association "Help animals" and its cat shelter "Jessica" from Belgrade (Serbia) implemented VIRTUAL ADOPTION of their shelter cats, especially of their special needs cats that typically do not get adopted. These cats are often infected with Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV), Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) or are blind or without an eye, without a leg, with neurological problems, or simply they are to wild, old or undesirable. With not enough funding and volunteers to care for all the unwanted cats, virtual adoption offers our supporters a chance to "adopt" a cat from their favorite shelter without actually taking it home.

"Help animals" association was founded 13 years ago and it consisted of the dog shelter "Riska" and the cat shelter "Jessica". Since then, over 1000 dogs and only about 50 cats were adopted. This lack of adoptions of our cats is the main reason for trying to introduce “virtual adoption” practice. In this way, we can provide food and general medical care for our growing population of cats in the shelter.

By virtually adopting or sponsoring one of our cats, which you can see in our galleries  They are looking for home and Cats with special needs, you are providing them with a safe home, more comfortable life, food and veterinarian care.

For the survival of one cat, the shelter spends more or less €25 per month. For a minimum of €25, you can "adopt" a cat that lives permanently at our shelter and become that cat’s "virtual godparent". One cat can have more than one sponsor.

Why should You adopt a cat virtually?

• The main reason is to help the survival of a cat shelter, because the help it is getting now, covers less than 20% of all needs.
• You can guarantee them a safe future.
• You can make possible for the shelter "Jessica" to continue with its mission, rescuing unwanted cats, cats with special needs, etc...
